Rescue Teams Execute Daring Mission in -15°C Freeze
High-Level Inspection of Emergency Response Training Exercises
According to МВС: Ukraine's Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, alongside State Emergency Service (SES) Head Andrii Danyk, recently observed hands-on drills involving roughly 400 rescue personnel. This gathering marked a critical milestone in workforce readiness, showcasing the participants’ advanced professional capabilities.
During the event, the Minister reviewed the equipment of the Mobile Rapid Response Center for Unmanned Systems and the Interregional Center for Rapid Response on Water Bodies. Trainees honed a variety of skills, including:
- aerial radiation reconnaissance;
- firefighting aboard a vessel damaged by shelling.
Crews of fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and boats, as well as drone operators, divers, explosives specialists, and members of the elite DELTA and SIGMA units, put their expertise on full display.
Notable Rescue Achievements
A standout accomplishment among the rescuers was the successful six-day underwater operation conducted by SES divers in temperatures plunging to -15 °C. Minister Klymenko highlighted the significance of establishing ten centrally subordinated emergency response formations.
'I am proud of every SES employee in Ukraine. Our primary achievement lies in personnel training. The new units created over the past two years have now demonstrated a high level of readiness-both technologically and professionally.' Ihor Klymenko
The event reaffirmed the preparedness of rescue units to operate under harsh conditions and underscored the ongoing importance of training to safeguard the public. Continuous drills and skill upgrades are vital for effective emergency response, especially as the country faces evolving threats. The integration of cutting-edge tools like unmanned systems further reflects a commitment to innovation in safety and lifesaving operations.
In line with these developments, the recent completion of ten new emergency rescue centers plays a pivotal role in enhancing Ukraine's disaster response capabilities. These facilities are designed to support the ongoing training efforts and ensure that rescue teams are well-equipped to handle emergencies effectively, particularly in extreme conditions like those faced during the recent drills.
