Kyiv Region: Forest Floor Blaze in Exclusion Zone Put Out by Rescuers

According to ДСНС: Teams from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) successfully contained and extinguished a forest floor fire within the exclusion zone of Kyiv region. Throughout the operation, specialists conducted radiation level measurements, which remained within safe limits at all times.

The rapid response prevented the flames from spreading across large areas. All firefighting efforts strictly adhered to established safety protocols.

The exclusion zone, established after the 1986 Chornobyl disaster, remains an area of heightened environmental sensitivity. Fires there pose unique risks due to potential radioactive particle resuspension.

Why Containing This Fire Mattered

Putting out blazes in the exclusion zone is critical for preserving the region's ecological balance, as such incidents can harm both the environment and public health. The measured radiation background confirmed safe levels, underscoring the rescuers' professionalism and the effectiveness of their crisis response.

In addition to the recent fire in the Kyiv region's exclusion zone, it is crucial to remain aware of the ongoing environmental threats posed by military actions in other areas. For instance, Russian attacks have devastated significant portions of protected natural reserves, highlighting the importance of safeguarding these delicate ecosystems from various forms of destruction.
