Russia attacked Ukraine's gas infrastructure: what are the consequences for Europe
Russian drones attacked Ukraine's gas infrastructure
On the night of December 1 and the morning of December 2, Russian drones carried out an attack on Ukraine's gas infrastructure. This was reported by the news agency 'Glavkom' citing a source in the company 'Naftogaz'.
The drones struck civilian facilities responsible for gas extraction and storage. Thankfully, no employees were harmed.
The company stated: 'Although there are material damages, our employees and experts are already working to eliminate the consequences of the attack. As soon as we receive permission from the State Emergency Service, we will begin the recovery process.'
At the beginning of the extensive Russian assaults on Ukraine's gas infrastructure, the country suffered significant losses in gas production. Stating this, the president of the 'Gas Traders of Ukraine' Association, Andriy Myzovets, warns that gas imports to EU countries bordering Ukraine, including Slovakia and Poland, may also be at risk.
As a result of the attack by Russian drones on Ukraine's gas infrastructure, the company 'Naftogaz' and operational services are working on restoring damaged facilities to avoid further problems with gas supply in the country.
