New fraud scheme in Ukraine: fake chat-bots disguise themselves as government services

Fraud scheme: risks for drivers
Схеми шахрайства в Україні: підроблені чат-боти видають себе за урядові послуги.

The Ukrainian cyber police and the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs warned citizens about the danger: scammers online have launched fake chat-bots that look like official government services.

Scammers copy the style and logos of real services to appear authentic and gain the trust of users, and then use their money and personal data.

These scammers offer assistance with car purchases, document verification, or 'finding a good deal.' In reality, the victim risks losing money with no chance of getting the car or providing the perpetrators access to their personal information.

Cyber police employees advise using only official resources, such as the 'Diia' app or the 'Driver's Cabinet' service. It is also advisable to refrain from clicking on dubious links and paying for a car that you have not seen in real life.

If you notice fake services or suspect any activity, immediately report it to the Cyber Police.

The Ukrainian cyberspace carries threats, so it is important to be attentive and careful online, to check even the most enticing offers, and not to trust unknown sources of information.
