Airstrikes Hit Sumy

According to Главком: In the early hours of January 17, Russian forces carried out airstrikes on the outskirts of Sumy, injuring four civilians. Among the wounded were a 7-year-old boy and a 76-year-old woman, both of whom required hospitalization. Two other women, aged 66 and 77, received medical treatment at the scene. This attack is part of a wider pattern of strikes on Ukrainian cities far from the front lines.

The assault caused significant damage, impacting approximately 15 households. Two houses sustained damage to their walls, while others had their windows blown out. The strikes also damaged utility networks, leaving a number of residents without gas and electricity. Repair crews are currently working to restore services.

Previous Attacks and the Situation in Sumy

This was not the first attack on Sumy this month; previously, on January 14, Russian attack drones struck a gas station within the city.

The situation in Sumy remains tense as the city endures repeated attacks, highlighting the protracted nature of the conflict and its severe impact on civilian life. Restoring infrastructure and providing aid to victims have become urgent priorities for local authorities. These events underscore the critical need for continued international support for Ukraine as it defends its territory and people.
