According to Главком: On February 27, 2026, Russian forces launched two separate drone attacks in Ukraine's Sumy region, resulting in four fatalities and three injuries. The Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office has initiated a pre-trial investigation into these actions as potential war crimes. The Sumy region, which borders Russia, has been a frequent target of cross-border attacks since the full-scale invasion began.

Attack Details

The first strike occurred around 3:00 PM in the Yampil community of the Shostka district. Three drones hit an agricultural enterprise, killing the company's director and accountant, while one employee was wounded.

A second attack took place at 6:20 PM in the Vorozhba community of the Sumy district, where a drone struck a vehicle. This attack killed two men and injured another man. In total, the combined assaults resulted in four deaths and three injuries.

A pre-trial investigation is currently underway under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, pertaining to war crimes. Information regarding the attacks was released citing the Office of the Prosecutor General. These incidents underscore the persistent volatility along Ukraine's northeastern border, where civilian areas remain vulnerable to strikes.
