DTEK Thermal Power Plant Targeted in Russian Strike, Marking Over 220 Attacks on Company Assets
DTEK Thermal Power Plant Comes Under Fire
According to Главком: Russian forces have launched another attack on a DTEK thermal power plant and a separate energy facility in the Odesa region. Since the full-scale invasion began, DTEK's power stations have been targeted more than 220 times, demonstrating a systematic campaign that has caused severe damage to Ukraine's energy infrastructure. DTEK is Ukraine's largest private energy company, making its facilities a frequent target.
The latest large-scale assault on DTEK's thermal power plants occurred on February 10, marking the eleventh such attack since October 2025. The shelling inflicted substantial damage to the plant's equipment and caused significant destruction at the energy site. This incident represents the 31st major substation belonging to the company to be damaged in the region.
Impact on Infrastructure and Safety
In a separate overnight attack on Odesa, civilian and critical infrastructure was also hit, resulting in one man being injured and requiring medical assistance.
DTEK's press service stated: 'Our teams are now working on-site, clearing the debris. We will do everything possible to mitigate the attack's consequences as quickly as we can. The top priority is to restore power to critical infrastructure facilities.'
This strike is part of a broader Russian military effort to destabilize Ukraine's energy grid. Damaging thermal power plants and substations has grave implications for the country's energy security, severely reducing its capacity to supply electricity. The continued targeting of these vital assets underscores the urgent need to protect infrastructure and maintain power supply for civilians and industry amid the ongoing conflict.
