According to Главком: On the night of January 2, Russian forces conducted a massive drone attack on Zaporizhzhia, resulting in damage to residential buildings and infrastructure. The enemy managed to hit the city nine times with drones, but according to Ivan Fedorov, this prevented any injuries among residents that night.
As of the morning of January 2, all subscribers in the region were left with electricity despite the attacks. Thirty people injured during previous mass attacks are being treated in Zaporizhzhia hospitals, indicating a prolonged threat to the civilian population.
Situation in the region
In December, Russian troops occupied 445 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, which is 12% less than in November. Additionally, the number of assaults decreased by 9%.
Throughout 2025, Ukrainians only had four occasions to breathe without the sound of sirens, indicating constant tension in the region. This attack became the 361st, highlighting the ongoing aggression of Russia against Ukrainian territory. The situation remains tense, and local residents continue to live under the threat of new attacks.
The attack on Zaporizhzhia underscores the long-standing and systematic threat that Ukraine faces from Russia. Despite a slight reduction in the occupied territories, frequent attacks on civilian objects indicate a persistent danger to the peaceful population.
