Russian Strikes Across Ukraine Kill and Injure Civilians in Zaporizhzhia, Poltava, and Odesa
Attacks Across Ukraine on March 24
According to Главком: In the early hours of March 24, Russian forces launched drone and missile strikes targeting the Zaporizhzhia region, a community in Poltava, and the Odesa oblast. These attacks are part of a wider pattern of strikes on civilian areas far from the front lines. Separately, an explosion occurred in an apartment building in occupied Sevastopol, causing significant damage.
In Zaporizhzhia, a Russian drone struck an apartment block, damaging not only the residential building but also a commercial property and a private house. This assault resulted in one fatality and left five people wounded.
Impact in Poltava and Sevastopol
The attack on the Poltava community caused destruction to residential buildings and a hotel structure, sparking several fires. As of 3:40 AM, two people were confirmed to have been killed.
The explosion in Sevastopol took place around 11:50 PM on Korchahina Street. The blast had severe consequences: it partially destroyed a wall on the first floor and the flooring from the first to the third stories. A neighboring building was also damaged, fires broke out in apartments across two stairwells, and windows in surrounding structures and vehicles were shattered.
In the Odesa region, a drone struck a public transport stop in the Odesa district. An 18-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man sustained injuries of moderate severity in this attack.
Attacks on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine continue to raise alarm within the international community, as they inflict not only physical destruction but also profound psychological trauma on the population.
These incidents underscore the escalating nature of the conflict and the grave dangers faced by civilians in targeted regions. They highlight the urgent need for enhanced protective measures for non-combatants and sustained humanitarian aid. In the context of this intensifying war, continued international monitoring and support for affected communities remains critically important.
In light of these recent attacks, the international community's concern is intensifying, prompting discussions on potential responses. The UN Security Council is set to meet to address the escalation of missile strikes on Ukraine, reflecting the urgent need for coordinated action to protect civilians and uphold international law.
