Russia announces autumn conscription starting October 1: what is known about the Kremlin's plans
According to glavcom.ua: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has expressed a strong protest against the so-called 'autumn conscription' that Russia plans to start on October 1, 2025. This conscription will cover temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, including Crimea, Sevastopol, and certain regions.
Ukraine's MFA emphasized that this conscription violates Russia's international legal obligations, specifically Article 51 of the IV Geneva Convention. Ukraine calls on its citizens to avoid participation in this process, and Russian citizens to sabotage it.
Ukraine continues to document all violations of international law by Russia to hold its military-political leadership accountable. The ministry also urges the international community to increase pressure on the aggressor.
It should be noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin has made the decision regarding the autumn conscription. From October 1 to December 31, the Kremlin plans to draft 135,000 Russians aged 18 to 30 who are not in reserve. It is also planned to discharge servicemen whose term of service has already expired.
Ukraine refuses to recognize Russia's 'autumn conscription' in the occupied territories and calls on the international community to condemn such actions of the Kremlin regime.
