Russia detained a Ukrainian scientist in Crimea: details of the diplomatic scandal
At an international conservation conference in Hobart, a tense diplomatic race ensued due to the detention of Ukrainian scientist Leonid Pshenichnov by Russia on territory currently controlled by Crimea. Ukraine considers this move by Russia politically motivated and a violation of human rights.The response to this situation was not long in coming. The Australian delegation summoned Russia to the carpet and called for ensuring the scientist's ability to express Ukraine's position on the international stage. Additionally, Ukrainian Dmitry Remez, a serviceman of 'Azov', has been sentenced to long-term imprisonment on charges of terrorism.
