Russia's Large-Scale Attack on Ukraine

According to МВС: Russian forces have carried out a major assault targeting Ukraine's energy infrastructure and residential areas, employing ballistic missiles and attack drones. The strikes have resulted in civilian injuries and significant damage.

In this coordinated attack, Russian troops focused their firepower on energy facilities. They deployed a substantial arsenal, including a significant number of ballistic missiles combined with other rocket types. In total, more than 70 missiles and 450 attack drones were used in the assault.

Affected Regions and Consequences

The strikes hit several regions across Ukraine, including:

  • Sumy Oblast
  • Kharkiv Oblast
  • Kyiv Oblast
  • Dnipro Oblast
  • Odesa Oblast
  • Vinnytsia Oblast

At least nine people have been reported wounded. Damage has been confirmed to ordinary residential buildings as well as critical energy infrastructure sites.

In Kyiv, drone strikes ignited fires in multi-story apartment buildings and damaged a kindergarten. Emergency services in all affected regions have been mobilized to address the aftermath of the attack and provide aid to victims.

This assault is part of Russia's ongoing campaign to destabilize Ukraine's energy grid, a strategy that poses severe risks to civilians, especially during the winter months. These attacks on critical infrastructure are widely condemned as a violation of international humanitarian law.

Damage to the power network creates additional hardships for a civilian population already suffering from the war's effects. The rapid response by local services underscores the urgent need for repairs and for ensuring the safety of residents in the impacted areas.
