Sloviansk Targeted by Airstrike

According to Главком: Russian forces conducted a heavy aerial bombardment of residential areas in Sloviansk, employing three FAB-250 high-explosive glide bombs with planning and correction modules. According to local authorities and law enforcement, the strikes on civilian sectors caused extensive damage. The attack damaged private homes and several multi-story apartment buildings, with the blast wave and shrapnel shattering windows and damaging roofs and building facades.

Child Evacuation Ordered Amid Fighting

In response to intensified shelling, a mandatory evacuation of children has been declared for parts of the Sloviansk community. Vadym Filashkin, head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, signed an order for the forced evacuation of children from specific districts of the city.

"A co-working center, which was one of Sloviansk's landmarks, a cafe, and multi-story buildings have been damaged," noted Vadym Lyakh.

Intense fighting continues on the Sloviansk front. As of the morning of March 20, Ukraine's General Staff reports that defenders halted 12 attempts by Russian forces to advance toward:

  • Dibrova
  • Zakitne
  • Riznykivka
  • Rai-Oleksandrivka
  • Platonivka

In the evening, the enemy made six more attempts to push forward in the areas of Rai-Oleksandrivka, Yampil, and Platonivka. One engagement is still ongoing. The use of powerful glide bombs represents a significant escalation in Russia's tactics against Ukrainian cities.

The situation in Sloviansk remains critical, with continued shelling posing a direct threat to civilian lives, particularly children, necessitating the evacuation order. Ukrainian defenders continue to repel Russian attempts to advance, indicating the intensity of combat in this sector of the eastern front. The international community's focus on the situation in Sloviansk and other Ukrainian regions remains vital as the conflict escalates.

Amid the ongoing crisis, the evacuation of children has been expanded to additional streets in Sloviansk, reflecting the urgent need to protect the youngest members of the community. This measure underscores the escalating dangers due to the recent airstrikes and continuous shelling.
