Fraudulent Appeals Posing as Rustem Umerov

According to Главком: Ukraine's Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Rustem Umerov, has warned about a fresh wave of fraudulent appeals made in his name to international partners, especially those in the Baltic states. Unidentified individuals are using his identity in scam messages and other suspicious communications, attempting to initiate contact or extract information. Umerov emphasized that all official interactions with partners, inquiries, or work-related correspondence are conducted exclusively through official channels.

Fake Statement from a Russian Intelligence Agency

Separately, Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service released a fabricated statement containing accusations against Kyiv and threats directed at Latvia. The Russian agency resorted to open intimidation of a NATO member state, threatening retaliation and strikes on decision-making centers in Latvia. In response, Estonia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russia’s chargé d’affaires. A formal note was delivered concerning the disinformation campaign targeting Estonia and other Baltic countries.

Umerov urged everyone to remain vigilant about any suspicious approaches and to verify their authenticity.

“I ask everyone to pay close attention to any suspicious appeals and verify their credibility. If you receive such messages or calls, please contact the office of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council for clarification and verification,” he stated.

These developments occur amid an escalating information war between Russia and the Baltic states, which are actively defending their national interests and security. The use of fraudulent schemes and disinformation highlights the growing level of threats that could affect international relations and trust between nations. Official institutions are urging caution and stressing the importance of verifying information in the current climate of regional tension.
