SAP wants to sue the state for the luxury car of the Odessa customs officer

Claim of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office

According to НАЗК: The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office has filed a claim with the High Anti-Corruption Court to recognize the asset of a senior inspector of the Odessa Customs as unfounded and to seize it for state revenue. The claim concerns the car used by the official from the customs clearance department of the 'Southern Port' customs post.

Grounds for the Claim

The grounds for the claim are the results of monitoring the lifestyle of the customs officer, conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU). In 2023, the customs officer purchased a 'VOLKSWAGEN TOUAREG' car worth over 2.7 million hryvnias. Although the car is registered in the name of the customs officer's father, the official continues to use it. At the same time, the car has already been seized.

This claim is part of a broader anti-corruption campaign in Ukraine, which has intensified following numerous scandals in government institutions. An important component of such campaigns is monitoring the lifestyle of public servants, which helps to detect possible violations and abuses. The results of this case may have a significant impact on the further actions of anti-corruption agencies and the formation of public trust in state institutions.
