Sappers have defused tens of thousands of deadly 'gifts' from the Russian Federation

In the first half of 2025, the demining units of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine carried out extremely important work. They have cleared over 41 thousand hectares of territories that were liberated from Russian occupation from explosive items.

These impressive figures are equivalent to almost half the area of Kyiv or over 57 thousand standard football fields. Moreover, during this time, over 39 thousand hectares of agricultural land have been cleared, which accounts for more than 95% of the total area that has been demined. The most productive months turned out to be January and May.

The work of the sappers also included the clearing of kilometers of motor roads, railways, power lines, and pipelines. Ukrainian specialists have begun neutralizing foreign children’s, pedestrian, and residential areas, as well as numerous explosive items.

Since February 2022, almost half a million demining operations have been carried out in Ukraine, and there are now over 100 certified mine action operators in the country. This testifies to the immense work ethic and professionalism of Ukrainian sappers.
