SBU and Police Conduct Searches in Transcarpathian TCC: What is Known About the Investigation
Searches in the Transcarpathian Regional TCC
According to Главком: The Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Police, is conducting searches at the Transcarpathian Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment (TCC) as part of a criminal investigation. Searches are being carried out on the leadership and employees of the Transcarpathian Regional TCC, related to an investigation regarding the illegal deprivation of liberty of citizens of Ukraine in accordance with Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The head of the Transcarpathian Regional TCC and social support is Andriy Savchuk. It is known that the State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) is currently investigating over 550 criminal proceedings related to the activities of TCCs. Almost 50 indictments have already been sent to court. It is also noted that the staffing of territorial recruitment centers is currently below 40%, and TCC employees often work without days off for six months.
Urgent Need for Reform
Olha Reshetylova, an expert in this field, pointed out that the accounting system is imperfect, and the work of the TCC and social support is far from ideal and needs reform. She also noted that TCC officials are forced to work overtime. This situation highlights the urgency of changes in the functioning of territorial recruitment centers.
The investigation of the activities of territorial recruitment centers in Ukraine, particularly in Transcarpathia, reflects broader issues in the country’s defense and mobilization system. The low level of staffing at TCCs and the high workload on employees indicate the need for reforms in this area. Law enforcement operations can serve as a impetus to improve the work of TCCs and ensure the protection of citizens' rights during the mobilization process.
