For the Second Time in a Month, Ukraine's SBU Strikes a Russian Oil Facility
Strike on the Vtorovo Station
According to Главком: Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) has launched a second attack within a month on the Vtorovo linear production and dispatch station, located in Russia's Vladimir region. The operation was carried out by fighters from the SBU's Alpha Special Operations Center as part of a 40-day campaign aimed at pressuring Russia. This station is a critical component of Russia's fuel logistics, supplying diesel to Moscow and moving petroleum products to Baltic Sea ports.
Strategic Significance of the Facility
The Vtorovo station is part of the Transneft-Verkhnyaya Volga network and serves as a key logistics hub for transporting light petroleum products to both domestic consumers and export terminals. From this site, diesel flows into Moscow's ring pipeline system and reaches major fuel depots surrounding the capital. Preliminary reports indicate that SBU drones struck the station's technical buildings, triggering an explosion.
The SBU press service stated: 'Carrying out the tasks set by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as part of the 40-day operation to pressure the Russian Federation, Alpha SBU fighters successfully struck the Vtorovo linear production and dispatch station in the Vladimir region.'
This operation is part of Ukraine's broader strategic efforts to target Russia's fuel infrastructure.
The repeated strikes on the Vtorovo station highlight the escalating tensions between Ukraine and Russia, as well as the strategic role of fuel logistics in both military and economic conflicts. Disrupting Russia's fuel supply chain could have significant consequences for its military capabilities, potentially weakening its operational readiness. These actions reflect Ukraine's intensified campaign to deplete the adversary's resources and may be part of a larger strategy to undermine Russian power.
The ongoing military campaign by Ukraine's SBU has seen a series of targeted strikes on Russian fuel infrastructure. In addition to the recent attack on the Vtorovo station, the SBU also targeted two oil refineries in Ufa and a fuel depot in Russia, further emphasizing the strategic importance of disrupting Russia's energy supply.
