SBU detains FSB agent in Kyiv: he was preparing a contract killing of a GUR officer

According to Главком: The Security Service of Ukraine prevented a contract killing of an officer of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine by detaining an FSB agent in Kyiv. The special operation took place in the capital, where the criminal attempted to eliminate a Ukrainian soldier. The 28-year-old agent, who is a citizen of a Central Asian country, was caught 'in the act' with a pistol.

The FSB agent disguised himself as a tourist and stayed in Pervomaisk in Mykolaiv region. To connect with the FSB, he purchased several smartphones and SIM cards. The criminal received a photograph of the potential 'target' and the coordinates of the cache from his curator, where he planned to carry out the attack. For physically eliminating the GUR officer, he was promised 50 thousand dollars and legalization in European Union countries.

Legal consequences and counter-terrorism efforts

During the detention, the agent was found with weapons and ammunition, as well as a smartphone containing evidence of contacts with the FSB. The criminal has been informed of suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, specifically for:

• part 2 of article 15
• part 2 of article 115 (completed attempted intentional murder)
• part 1 of article 111-2 (aiding the aggressor state)
• part 1 of article 263 (illegal handling of weapons, military ammunition or explosive substances)

At the moment, the agent is in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

This detention is part of the SBU's broader fight against terrorist activities, as earlier the security service had already prevented a contract killing of the commander of the 108th Separate Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhiy Filimonov.

The detention of the FSB agent underscores the relevance of threats related to the military conflict in Ukraine, as well as the intensification of the activities of Ukrainian security services in combating possible attacks on the lives of military personnel.
