FSB Agent Arrested in Ukraine

According to Главком: Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has apprehended a female agent of Russia’s FSB who had set up a video camera in a hotel on the Kyiv Sea to help coordinate massive Russian strikes on the capital. The suspect, an unemployed resident of Chornomorsk in the Odesa region, checked into the hotel complex under the guise of a tourist vacation. She installed a phone camera with remote access in a window facing the reservoir’s waters. The FSB planned to use the feed to track the locations and combat operations of Ukraine’s air defense systems in real time. If coordinates of anti-aircraft missile systems or mobile fire teams were identified, the Russians intended to launch combined strikes.

The SBU’s military counterintelligence unit linked the detainee to a shelling attack on June 15, 2026, after which she received a new assignment to adjust further bombardments. She was arrested while setting up another observation post at a hotel near the Kyiv Sea. The agent had been recruited through a Telegram channel offering easy earnings. During searches, law enforcement seized two smartphones, a laptop, and handwritten notes.

Investigation and Other Arrests

Investigators have charged the suspect under Article 111, Part 2 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code (high treason during martial law). She remains in custody, and the article carries a potential life sentence with asset confiscation. The operation was conducted jointly with the SBU’s Odesa regional office and the regional prosecutor’s office. The SBU press center stated:

“After the night attack on the city on June 15, 2026, the agent went to ground but later received a new task to adjust further strikes on Ukraine’s capital.”

Separately, in Dnipro, an FSB agent who worked as a rehabilitation trainer for children with disabilities was uncovered for adjusting strikes on the Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, and Poltava regions. This individual searched for and transmitted coordinates of Ukrainian air defense systems, tracking military sites during car trips and marking locations on Google Maps. The SBU also prevented a new series of terrorist attacks in Kharkiv by detaining an FSB agent preparing multiple bombings.

These arrests and exposures underscore the SBU’s active efforts to combat hostile elements seeking to destabilize the country. The suspects employed various intelligence-gathering methods, highlighting the high threat level Ukraine faces amid the ongoing conflict. These events emphasize the critical importance of security measures and counterintelligence operations in protecting national interests and safety.

The recent apprehension of an FSB agent in Kyiv highlights a troubling pattern of espionage activities targeting Ukraine. In a related incident, another agent was uncovered in Dnipro, where they were involved in coordinating strikes across three Ukrainian regions. This ongoing threat underscores the importance of vigilance in national security efforts. For more details on this case and its implications, read about the exposed FSB agent in Dnipro.
