According to Главком: On the night of January 9, a series of explosions rocked Lviv after an air alert was declared. The Mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, confirmed that the explosions were heard in the city, noting:

“After the air alert was declared, a series of explosions was heard in Lviv. We are currently investigating what exactly happened.”

The Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, also confirmed that an attack targeted a critical infrastructure facility in Lviv, urging the population to stay in shelters until the all-clear:

“In Lviv, an attack targeted a critical infrastructure facility. Please, stay in shelters until the all-clear.”

This incident occurred against the backdrop of a wider wave of attacks that Ukraine has suffered. At the same time, the Russian army attacked Dnipropetrovsk in the evening and at night, leading to damage to infrastructure in the Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and Pavlohrad districts. As a result of these strikes, most consumers in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia oblasts were left without electricity.

In this regard, President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed Yuliya Svyrydenko to provide support to local authorities in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhia oblasts.
