Ukrainian Forces Target Tuapse Refinery and Russian Air Defenses in Overnight Strikes

Fire and lightning: night strikes
Українські війська завдали удару по нафтопереробному заводові в Туапсе та вразили російські системи ППО під час нічних операцій.

Strikes on Targets Within Russia and Occupied Territories

According to ХВИЛЯ: In the early hours of April 16, Ukrainian Defense Forces launched strikes against a series of targets inside Russia and in temporarily occupied territories. Among the targets hit was the Tuapse oil refinery in the Krasnodar region, where the attack ignited a major fire. This refinery is a key asset of the Russian state-owned company Rosneft, with an annual processing capacity of 12 million tons of oil, accounting for approximately 4.4% of Russia's total oil refining volume. The facility produces Euro-5 standard petroleum products. These strikes represent a continued effort by Ukraine to degrade Russia's military logistics and economic resources supporting the war.

The strike on the Tuapse refinery was carried out by operators of the 1st Separate Center of Unmanned Systems, with a confirmed hit and subsequent fire. Additionally, a strike hit an area where the tactical group of Russia's 15th Separate Coastal Missile Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet was concentrated in Sevastopol. Several Russian air defense systems were also damaged or destroyed:

  • A Buk-M2 surface-to-air missile system in Bahativka, temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia region,
  • A Pantsir air defense missile-gun system in Feodosia, occupied Crimea,
  • An Osa surface-to-air missile system in Vodyane, temporarily occupied Donetsk region.

Further strikes targeted unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) control points in the areas of Verbove (Zaporizhzhia) and Hola Prystan (Kherson region). Enemy personnel were hit in the Rodynske and Zatyshne areas (Donetsk region), and an enemy command post near Rivnopil was struck.

"We continue to systematically reduce the Russian federation's ability to wage war against Ukraine by conducting #DeepStrike attacks on the most important strategic objects," - Unmanned Systems Forces.

These coordinated attacks underscore Ukraine's ongoing military campaign to degrade critical enemy infrastructure. Strikes on key facilities like oil refineries and air defense systems can significantly impact Russia's capacity to sustain its military operations. The targeting of personnel and command centers also highlights efforts to disrupt and destabilize Russian military structures in occupied areas.

These recent strikes highlight a broader strategy by Ukrainian forces to disrupt critical Russian infrastructure and military capabilities.
