Ukrainian Defense Forces Hit Russian Military Targets

According to ХВИЛЯ: Between May 17 and 18, Ukraine’s defense forces carried out strikes on Russian military assets, successfully hitting a boat in Dagestan, several drone command posts, and concentrations of personnel. These operations also confirmed the results of previous attacks on May 16 and 17, which destroyed an aircraft and a helicopter. The strikes are part of Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to degrade Russia’s military capabilities along the front lines and in rear areas.

The most notable target on May 17 and into the night of May 18 was a Project Grachonok anti-sabotage boat, struck near Kaspiysk in Dagestan. Moscow uses such vessels to protect naval base points and counter enemy divers. In addition, Ukrainian forces hit drone control centers located near Rozdolne, Shevchenko in Donetsk region, Dvorichne in Kharkiv region, Kamyanske in Zaporizhzhia region, and Karnatnoye in Russia’s Bryansk region.

  • Struck Russian drone command centers in the areas of:
    • Rozdolne
    • Shevchenko (Donetsk region)
    • Dvorichne (Kharkiv region)
    • Kamyanske (Zaporizhzhia region)
    • Karnatnoye (Bryansk region, Russia)

Attacks also targeted troop concentrations in Piddubne (Donetsk region) and Olhyne (Kherson region). On May 17, a communications hub in Myrne (temporarily occupied Crimea) was hit, along with a Tor-M2 air defense missile system in Zakhidne (temporarily occupied Luhansk region), and a train carrying fuel and lubricants in Fedorivka (temporarily occupied Donetsk region).

Furthermore, on May 16, a strike on the Yeysk airfield in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai destroyed a Ka-27 helicopter and a Be-200 maritime patrol aircraft. That same day, an airspace control station in Lesnoye (Bryansk region) was also hit.

These strikes reflect an intensification of Ukrainian operations aimed at reducing Russia’s military potential, particularly by targeting key logistics, command, and air assets.

Hitting critical objects like patrol boats and drone control centers can significantly complicate Russian logistics and coordination in occupied territories. The destruction of aviation equipment also undermines regional air security. Analyzing these events helps clarify the conflict’s trajectory and its strategic implications for Ukraine.

In a related development, Ukrainian forces have also successfully targeted a Russian missile vessel in the Caspian Sea, further demonstrating their commitment to disrupting enemy naval operations. This recent strike underscores the strategic importance of neutralizing such vessels in the ongoing conflict.
