According to glavcom.ua: Singapore has adopted a new law that strengthens control over the use of electronic cigarettes. According to The Guardian, the harshest penalties are prescribed for the use of special vapes containing the anesthetic etomidate, which is considered a drug.

Under the new law, which will come into effect on September 1, 2025, the use of regular vapes will be punished with a fine of 500 Singapore dollars for minors and 700 dollars for adults. A repeat offense may lead to a rehabilitation program and a fine of up to 2000 dollars.

However, the use of K-pods will incur even harsher penalties: a fine and compulsory rehabilitation for the first offense, and up to ten years in prison for a repeat offense.

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong emphasized that the vaping issue in Singapore has become a drug threat that requires serious action. As part of the anti-vaping campaign, nicotine testing in schools and the installation of special bins for the disposal of electronic cigarettes at airports are planned.

There is a growing outrage in the world regarding the use of electronic cigarettes among youth, so the introduction of strict laws in Singapore may serve as an example for other countries in the fight against this phenomenon.
