Commander-in-Chief Syrsky Visits the Pokrovsk Sector

According to Главком: During a visit to the Pokrovsk sector, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, announced that Ukrainian defenders have halted a Russian offensive and liberated 480 square kilometers of territory in the Oleksandrivka direction. He presented awards to soldiers of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine, 'Azov'. This development underscores the active and effective countermeasures being taken by Ukrainian forces against the ongoing invasion.

The Frontline Situation

The Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration is the epicenter of fighting along the 1,200-kilometer frontline. Over the past week, Ukrainian defenders repelled 291 enemy attacks. The following units were active in the combat zone near Hryshyne:

  • The 32nd and 155th Separate Mechanized Brigades;
  • The 79th Separate Air Assault 'Tavriia' Brigade;
  • The 14th 'Chervona Kalyna' Brigade for Operational Purposes.

Russian forces are most active in eastern Ukraine, particularly on the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka axes, employing aviation, artillery, and attack drones to support their ground operations. The Pokrovsk sector has been a focal point of intense pressure as Russia seeks to exploit its advantages in firepower and manpower.

Syrsky also noted that urgent needs of Ukrainian troops were discussed, with a focus on equipment and weaponry to enhance their effectiveness against the enemy.

'The main goal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the current year is to conduct a large-scale defensive operation, which should become the foundation for future victories,' he emphasized.

Russian forces, for their part, had planned to launch a large-scale offensive on March 1 across 13 main axes, shifting some units from the Pokrovsk and Ocheretyne directions to the Oleksandrivka axis.

Overall, the events on the Pokrovsk front and the results of Ukrainian military actions demonstrate the resilience and effectiveness of the defense, as well as the readiness of the Armed Forces for future challenges. Syrsky's visit highlights the strategic importance of this region and serves to bolster the morale of Ukrainian personnel. The liberation of territory and the repelling of numerous attacks indicate a growing operational tempo by Ukrainian forces, which is critical in light of Russia's planned offensive operations.

As Ukrainian forces continue their successful operations, it is crucial to stay informed about the evolving situation on the frontlines. Recent reports indicate that Russian assaults have intensified, with over 200 daily engagements being recorded. Understanding these developments is essential for grasping the challenges faced by Ukrainian defenders.
