Defender Mykola Chornovolyk has died: son was injured before meeting with father

According to glavcom.ua: Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all whose lives have been taken by the Russian-Ukrainian war. Today we remember Mykola Chornovolyk.

On August 24, on Ukraine's Independence Day, Ukrainian defender Mykola Chornovolyk died in the hospital from a serious illness. This was reported by 'Hlavkom' referring to the Kostopil City Council.

Mykola Chornovolyk was born on September 16, 1973, in the village of Vyrka in the Sarny district. After finishing local school, he entered what was then Kuznetsovsk Technical School, where he obtained a welding qualification. He worked at the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant. In 1994, Mykola Chornovolyk got married and moved to Huta in Kostopil district, from where his wife hails.

The man worked in various jobs, mostly in construction in Kyiv. The couple raised a daughter and a son.

The man was mobilized for military service in March 2023, serving as an electrician in the radio interference station in a military unit in Kostopol. After a year of service, in 2024, soldier Chornovolyk was diagnosed with a serious illness. He received treatment but returned to service each time.

Mykola's son, Roman Chornovolyk, fought in the Donetsk direction. Shortly before going home to visit his ailing father, Roman sustained an injury to his leg, with which he returned home. On August 24, Mykola Chornovolyk died in the hospital.

Mykola Chornovolyk is a defender of Ukraine who died from a serious illness after military service. He left behind a wife and children, and his son, also a participant in the war, was injured and is now struggling with the consequences of the hostilities.
