In 1943-1944, there were about two hundred partisans active in Yamelnytsia, who opposed the invaders of all kinds.

During this time, a clandestine UPA radio station 'Independent Ukraine' was operating on the outskirts of the village, which had a significant impact. One of the radio operators at the station was Belgian Albert Gazenbrux, whose story touches the heart and impresses anyone.
