The USA will provide Ukraine with 840 new ERAM missiles: what kind of weapon is this

According to glavcom.ua: Ukraine will soon receive 840 American Eram missiles - this decision was made by the U.S. State Department. These missiles are a hybrid of an aerial bomb and a cruise missile, with an explosive power of 220 kg and a maximum range of 460 km. The contract for their delivery costs $825 million, funded by Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway.

Eram is a hybrid of an aerial bomb and a cruise missile. Most likely, the Americans have a surplus of conventional aerial bombs, so they decided - why let good go to waste, they've made a super-version of the guided aerial bomb. They added wings, a navigation system (there's an option to operate in conditions of active electronic warfare), and an engine. As for the effectiveness of the new missiles, judging by the known characteristics now, they are close to Storm Shadow, Scalp, and Taurus in maximum range. However, the weight of the warhead is twice as low. But at the same time, the cost of one Eram missile is five times lower.

Conducted tests of the new missiles have shown their high efficiency. Moreover, Ukrainian developers are preparing new weapons - the 'Flamingo' cruise missiles, which will be able to hit targets at distances over 3000 km, further enhancing the country's defense capability.
