Fine for 'green': drivers will now be punished for this traffic violation

Drivers receive fines for misunderstanding traffic light signals with additional sections. In particular, they often mistakenly believe that when the main green light is on, they can move in all directions, which leads to violations of traffic rules.

A representative of the Patrol Police explained the situation: when the traffic light has an additional section with an arrow for turning, the maneuver is only possible when this arrow is lit. The main green light only regulates movement straight ahead or in another specified direction.

Neglecting the arrow signal is considered running a traffic light. Such a violation can lead to a fine of 510 hryvnias in accordance with Article 122 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.

If the incorrect maneuver causes an emergency situation, the fines increase significantly. In this case, the driver may receive a fine of 1445 hryvnias and lose the right to drive a vehicle for up to twelve months.
