Fines up to 80 thousand hryvnias: what items in a car attract police attention
This was reported by 'Hvylya'.
Ukrainians were told what items in a car could cost the driver thousands of hryvnias.
Ukrainian drivers have become accustomed to the risks of fines for speeding or violating traffic rules. However, as experts remind, troubles can await even with perfect driving - it's enough to improperly transport certain items in the trunk.

What can result in a fine:
- Fuel. Transporting more than 60 liters of gasoline or diesel in canisters threatens a fine of 510 hryvnias. This affects not only carriers but also those returning, for example, from a summer house.
- Hunting trophies. The presence of wild game meat in the car without documents of origin can cost the driver up to 80 thousand hryvnias. The police actively cooperate with hunting inspectors, so the lack of confirming papers almost always leads to sanctions.
- Wood. Even a few bags of firewood without invoices are considered a violation. The minimum fine is 1,530 hryvnias, and in case of significant damage, the amount rises to 51 thousand. This applies to both trucks and passenger cars with trailers.
How to avoid problems
Lawyers and road safety specialists advise drivers to always check what exactly is in the trunk. Invoices, cash receipts, or official certificates can save from fines and lengthy disputes.
Experts also recommend:
- to store fuel only in factory canisters and strictly in allowed volumes;
- to obtain documents for firewood or meat in advance if transportation is related to economic or hunting needs;
- to remember that the police may involve specialists from forestry and hunting inspections to check the legality of transporting goods.
Practice shows: even a simple trip out of town can end with large fines if transportation rules are ignored.
