Water tariffs in Kyiv are set to triple

In Kyiv, the general tariff for water supply and sewage is proposed to increase from 30.38 to 88.90 UAH per cubic meter. If the calculations of "Kyivvodokanal" are approved, consumer expenses for these services will rise by 58.52 UAH for each cubic meter used. This is reported by RBK-Ukraine.

How water tariffs in Kyiv may change

«Kyivvodokanal» has submitted new cost calculations for services to the capital's authorities. The proposed tariffs include:

• water supply - 50.69 UAH per cubic meter instead of 16.16 UAH;
• sewage - 38.21 UAH per cubic meter instead of 14.22 UAH;
• total tariff - 88.90 UAH per cubic meter instead of 30.38 UAH.

Thus, water supply may increase by more than three times, while sewage may rise by approximately 2.7 times. The total cost of both services will increase nearly threefold.

At the same time, new tariffs have not yet been approved. "Kyivvodokanal" has only provided the calculations, so current prices will remain unchanged for now. A date for a possible review of service cost has not been announced.

How water bills will rise in Kyiv

For the consumption of 5 cubic meters of water per month, the payment for water supply and sewage may rise from 151.90 to 444.50 UAH. The difference will be 292.60 UAH.

If a household uses 10 cubic meters, under the current tariff, the two services cost 303.80 UAH. After the potential increase, the amount will rise to 889 UAH, which is an increase of 585.20 UAH.

The actual bill will depend on the consumption volume recorded by the meter. In the absence of a meter, the fee is charged according to established norms and the number of registered residents.

Why "Kyivvodokanal" wants to raise tariffs

The enterprise explains the proposal by a sharp rise in costs. Compared to 2022, electricity, which makes up a significant portion of the service cost, has tripled in price.

The cost of fuel and lubricants has more than doubled, and certain reagents for water purification have increased by nearly three times. Additionally, salaries for employees and costs for spare parts and repairs have also risen.

Additional pressure is created by the wear and tear of water supply networks and damage to infrastructure due to Russian attacks. "Kyivvodokanal" stated that a tariff review is necessary for the stable operation of water supply and sewage systems during the war.

Earlier, Kyivvodokanal and the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) refuted the widespread myth about using salt in sewage to prevent freezing.
