Linguist Olga Vasilyeva explained that the word 'dog' belongs to the masculine gender, though it can be used to refer to both males and females. She emphasized that this feature is characteristic of the Ukrainian language.

Olga Vasilyeva also reminded that Ukrainian names lack the suffix -ik, which is typical for Russian variants. Therefore, according to her, the correct usage is the spelling type Tolik, Vitalik, Slavyk, etc.

“A very frequent question. 'Dog' is a noun of common gender, which denotes both male and female. But the name of this animal in our language has a masculine gender... If a dog gave birth, then, of course, it was she who gave birth, not he,” explained the linguist.

She also noted that the expression 'schedules of outages' should be avoided, as it is a calque from the Russian language, which does not conform to Ukrainian linguistic norms.

In discussing linguistic issues, it is important to understand the nuances of using terms and words to adhere to proper lexicography and grammar.
