Rain and a Drop in Temperature Set to Mark Ukraine’s May Weekend

Weather Forecast for Ukraine on May 30-31

According to Главком: Ukraine is bracing for cooler conditions and widespread rain as the last days of May approach. Daytime temperatures on May 30-31 are forecast to range between +12°C and +17°C across most regions. Western areas will see slightly warmer weather, with highs of +19°C to +23°C, while temperatures in Transcarpathia may climb as high as +24°C.

“On May 30-31, most parts of Ukraine will experience low air temperatures. Both Saturday and Sunday will bring only +12°C to +17°C during the day, with western regions a bit warmer at +19°C to +23°C, and up to +24°C in Transcarpathia.”

On Sunday, temperatures in the Zhytomyr, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, and Rivne regions will drop further, reaching only +10°C to +13°C during the day.

Rain is expected nearly everywhere on May 30-31, with the exception of western Ukraine on May 30, where no precipitation is forecast. Winds during this period will predominantly come from the northwest. As Didenko noted, “wet weather will dominate, with periodic rain virtually everywhere-only on May 30 will the western part remain dry.”

On May 29, Ukraine experienced variable cloudiness, brief showers, and thunderstorms in some regions. Nighttime temperatures ranged from 4°C to 10°C, while daytime highs reached 13-18°C. Winds that day were from the northwest at 7-12 m/s, with gusts of 15-20 m/s in the Right Bank areas.

The expected cool spell at the end of May could disrupt agricultural activities across Ukraine, as persistent rains may hinder fieldwork. However, the milder temperatures in the western part of the country could benefit crop growth there. Meteorologists also warn of possible transportation delays due to the adverse weather conditions.
