SBU struck the Crimean Bridge for the third time: how the symbol of occupation was destroyed

Explosion of the Crimean Bridge: how it happened
Операція СБУ проти символу анексії: міст через Крим знову під ударом.

The morning of October 8, 2022, was historic: the Security Service successfully attacked the Crimean Bridge, which became a symbol of the Kremlin's occupation. The explosion of 21 tons of TNT turned the bridge into an emergency structure, making it unsuitable for supplying weapons to southern Ukraine.

Similar attacks on the bridge were also carried out by the Security Service in 2023 and 2025, using underwater explosives and maritime drones. SBU head Vasyl Maliuk emphasized that this was a response to the occupation of Crimea, which belongs to Ukraine.

God loves the Trinity, and the SBU always sees its plans through to the end and never repeats itself. ... The Crimean Bridge is an absolutely legitimate target, especially considering that the enemy has used it as a logistical artery to supply its troops. Crimea is Ukraine, and any manifestations of occupation will receive our harsh response.

The destruction of the bridge and SBU plans

During the attack on the Crimean Bridge in 2022, the bridge suffered serious damage, halting its use for supply. However, the Security Service acknowledged its involvement in the event in July 2023. With the use of 21 tons of hexogen, wrapped in explosives, the SBU ensured the attack had insufficient detection sensitivity at the control points.

The Ukrainian Security Service responds to the occupation of Crimea, considering the bridge and the peninsula an integral part of the country, and is ready to take harsh measures to protect territorial integrity.
