The goal of the initiative

In addition to existing medical examinations, newlyweds will undergo special classes and consultations. The aim of this initiative is to help couples identify and discuss potential issues before the marriage: diseases, tendencies toward violence, as well as financial or cultural discrepancies that often lead to conflicts.

The family support program will also provide help after the wedding. If the couple encounters difficulties, they will be able to seek assistance from specialists to prevent the escalation of disagreements. In the event that divorce becomes inevitable, couples will receive support and guidance during this process.

The ruling Justice and Development Party in Turkey is considering the possibility of introducing mandatory psychological checks for couples wishing to marry, to help them identify potential problems and prevent conflicts in the future. It is also envisaged to provide support and assistance to families both before and after the wedding in case of difficulties.
