Fire in the historic synagogue in Sadgora

A fire broke out in the historic synagogue in Sadgora, owned by the Hasidim of Sadgora. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing the United Jewish Community of Ukraine.

It is noted that one man broke into the building when the guard went outside, took books and set the building on fire. The police promptly arrived at the scene and detained the criminal. 'It became known that a month ago he tried to set fire to a local church and, according to preliminary data, is suffering from mental disorders,' the message states.

History of the synagogue and similar incidents

This temple is one of the main shrines of the Sadigura dynasty, founded by Rabbi Israel of Ruzhin. The building, erected about 180 years ago, was restored in 2017 and is considered one of the most significant objects in the Hasidic world.

It is worth mentioning that during one of the attacks by Russian drones, the historic synagogue 'Nachlas Eliezer', located in the Peresipsky district of the city, was damaged.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police, five individuals acting in favor of the Russian special services carried out a series of arsons in various cities in Ukraine. A 14-year-old boy was detained in Kryvyi Rih for attempting to set fire to a local synagogue on behalf of the Russian special services. Additionally, in Kyiv, law enforcement discovered three criminals who attacked a synagogue in the Obolon district and sprayed tear gas on one of the members of the Jewish community.

As a result of the fire in the historic synagogue in Sadgora, significant material damage was caused, provoking outrage among local residents and representatives of the Jewish community. Such cases of arson of places of worship in Ukraine indicate the presence of societal problems and the need to improve security systems to prevent such incidents in the future.
