In Greece, doctors have announced a strike due to shortcomings in the healthcare system. They are demanding higher wages and improved working conditions. According to the president of the Oenge union, Yiannis Galanopoulos, doctors are tired of being 'unhappy' and complaining without reason.Public doctors have joined the strike and plan to march to the buildings of the Prime Minister and Parliament to draw attention to the problems in the healthcare sector. Private medical laboratories will also close in protest against reimbursement issues. The country's parliament passed a reform that allows for overtime work, which has caused outrage among trade unions and the opposition.
