Fraudsters with a fake Diia app exposed in Kharkiv: how the scheme worked
A case was discovered in Kharkiv where fraudsters were using a fake 'Diia' app to deceive citizens. This information was shared by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
Two young people aged 21 and 22 were charged with fraud. Their scheme involved creating advertisements on Facebook, promising people state support. The victims clicked on a link to a fake 'Diia' website, entered their personal data, and thus gave the fraudsters access to their bank accounts.
The scheme worked like this: when people clicked on the advertising banner, they landed on a counterfeit website that mimicked the official 'Diia' portal. On this site, a window opened that looked like a banking app interface and did not raise suspicions among visitors.
Law enforcement officials are currently determining the number of victims. The suspects face imprisonment, so prosecutors urge citizens to be cautious and avoid links that raise doubts.
Social media users are advised to check the authenticity of websites and not to enter personal information on dubious resources.
