Environmental Control Point Launched in Yaremche

According to Мін. Економіки: Ukraine has added a new Environmental Control Point (ECP) in Yaremche, its 12th such facility, to strengthen the protection of the Carpathian region. This initiative comes as part of ongoing efforts to address ecological challenges in one of Europe's most biodiverse mountain areas. The newly established ECP will oversee the Yaremche, Polyanytsia, Vorokhta, and Verkhovyna communities, covering 31 settlements across an area exceeding 1,292 square kilometers.

Core Missions of the Environmental Control Point

State inspectors stationed here will focus on documenting and combating:

  • illegal logging,
  • off-road jeeping,
  • and pollution of land and water bodies.

To enhance monitoring capabilities, the team will deploy drones alongside advanced photo and video recording equipment. These measures aim to improve the region's environmental conditions and safeguard its natural assets. The State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine provided the information about the opening of this new ECP.

The launch of the Environmental Control Point in Yaremche marks a significant step toward bolstering ecological security and preserving the Carpathian region's natural resources. Given persistent issues like illegal logging and environmental degradation, establishing additional oversight bodies can greatly boost conservation effectiveness. This ECP will serve as a key tool in curbing ecological violations and promoting sustainable development in the area.
