Kyiv resident set fire to a parcel terminal because of scammers: they promised him a job in the Security Service of Ukraine
A sudden incident occurred in Kyiv: a young man set fire to a parcel terminal of the "Ukrposhta" company, believing that he was carrying out a reconnaissance mission. According to the Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor's Office, a 21-year-old resident of Kyiv has been charged with deliberately destroying or damaging property by arson.
The young man is accused under Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It turned out that he met a girl online and even met her in person. However, he later received a call informing him that this girl was a spy who had been detained by Ukrainian special services.
"Once, an unknown person called me and stated that I had to help the Security Service of Ukraine by observing the postal office of the 'Ukrposhta' company. And then I was told to set fire to the parcel terminal," the suspect recounted.
The caller introduced himself as an employee of the SBU, assuring that help was needed from the suspect. The man believed that he was helping the Security Service to expose a traitor with connections to 'Ukrposhta'. For burning property, a sentence of three to ten years of imprisonment may be imposed. Details can be learned from the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
As a result of the young man's reckless actions, the case will further be considered in court, which will decide the punishment for the committed offense. It's better to answer the phone when an unknown number calls... or perhaps it's better to verify information before participating in any vague dealings.
