A psychedelic mushroom manufacturer arrested in Kyiv: goods worth 1 million hryvnias seized

According to Прокуратура Київ: A 31-year-old man has been arrested in Kyiv for growing and selling psychedelic mushrooms in chocolate. As a result of searches, goods worth over 1 million hryvnias were seized, including:

• about 2 kg of confectionery;
• dried psilocybin mushrooms;
• growing containers;
• zip bags with mushroom spores;
• containers with mycelium;
• zip bags with cannabis;
• the psychoactive substance kratom;
• money.

The chocolate with mushrooms was sold for a price ranging from 2200 to 3400 hryvnias. By court decision, the suspect was selected a preventive measure in the form of detention. The sanction of the article under which he is charged provides for imprisonment for up to 12 years with confiscation of property.

The drug problem in Ukraine

This case highlights the relevance of the problem of illegal production and distribution of psychoactive substances in Ukraine. The high level of seizures of such goods indicates the activity of law enforcement agencies in combating drug crime, as well as the growing interest of young people in new forms of drugs. The situation requires further analysis and the development of effective measures to prevent similar crimes in the future.
