According to glavcom.ua: A funeral for a defender took place in Lviv on December 11 at the new section of the Hill of Glory. Andriy Kyryziuk, who died while performing duties on the front in the Donetsk region, was buried in the field of honorable burials No. 87 on Pasichna Street, as there were no more places available for burials on Mechnikova Street.

The serviceman, who served in the 24th separate mechanized brigade, will be honored by dividing the new section into sectors and arranging tombstones in the style of the memorial on Mechnikova. An architectural competition is also planned to create a ceremonial zone. The area of the new section is half of the total area of the field of honorable burials on Mechnikova.

Due to the limited number of burial places in Lychakiv Cemetery, where only 20 places remain, it was decided to utilize the new section. Previously, this place was known as the Hill of Glory, where soldiers of the world wars are buried. Thus, Lviv is responding to the growing need for the organization of burials for military personnel.

The Florivskyi cemetery on Zamkova Hill has the potential to become a cultural heritage site, but the issue of its status is still under consideration by the relevant authorities.
