Explosion at Factory in Mississippi: Massive Ammonia Leak and Evacuation
An explosion occurred at the CF Industries plant in Yazoo City, Mississippi, resulting in an ammonia leak. Local residents were forced to evacuate. This was reported by the Associated Press.
According to Governor Tate Reeves, all employees and contractors present at the scene are safe. The plant has the capacity to store up to 48,000 tons of ammonia, but the exact amount present during the explosion remains unknown.
The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality stated that 'air monitoring operations will continue as long as necessary for the safety of the population.'
Recently, an explosion also occurred at a pharmaceutical factory of Sigachi Industries in India, which caused a deadly fire resulting in 42 fatalities. Additionally, a massive chemical fire took place at the PBTT plant in Newburgh, Indiana.
