In Poltava, contracts with carriers may be terminated due to Russian music and a minute of silence

In Poltava, requirements for carriers are being tightened: drivers must stop transportation every day at 9:00 AM for a minute of silence, and playing music and films will be prohibited in vehicles. Violation of these new conditions may result in the company losing its contract with the city. Earlier, a complaint about Russian music had already been considered in Poltava. Reasons for contract termination with carriers in Poltava

The new rules were announced on September 18 by the head of the city's department for transportation and communication issues, Serhii Hladkykh. According to him, additional agreements have been prepared for all carriers to the existing contracts.

The first new point provides for a mandatory stop of public transport every day at 9:00 AM. Drivers and passengers must participate in the nationwide minute of silence to honor the memory of those killed as a result of Russian aggression.

The second point prohibits playing music and films in buses and minibuses. This means the requirement applies not only to Russian-language content but to any music and video playback in the vehicle.

Additionally, carriers are required to comply with the city council's decision regarding a moratorium on the public use of Russian-language cultural products. This moratorium in Poltava extends, among other things, to public transport.

In case of non-compliance with the requirements specified in the additional agreements, the city authorities may initiate the termination of the contract with the carrier.

Public transport in Poltava will stop at 9:00 AM

The new rules will apply to all carriers operating on the urban routes of Poltava. Thus, the 9:00 AM stop will become a unified requirement regardless of the specific route or company.

The practice of stopping public transport during the minute of silence is already being implemented in other cities. In Kyiv, for example, surface transport also stops at 9:00 AM, and at some intersections starting from September 15, the traffic lights mode 'All Red' has been introduced.

For carriers in Poltava, the changes mean the emergence of specific contractual responsibilities. If previously the city authorities could respond to individual passenger complaints, after signing the additional agreements, violations of these rules may have consequences for the transportation contract itself.
