Samar Welcomes a New Diia Center

According to Мінцифра: In the Dnipropetrovsk region, the city of Samar has launched a new Diia Center designed to serve over 70,000 local residents. The facility was built following all recommendations from an accessibility audit, ensuring comfort and convenience for people of all abilities.

The center includes key accessibility features such as:

  • a ramp
  • accessible entrance and clear navigation
  • an inclusive restroom
  • designated parking
  • a children's area

Additionally, an electronic queue system has been introduced to streamline service delivery.

Part of a National Push for Accessibility

This project falls under the broader "Barrier-Free Administrative Service Center" initiative, which is part of Ukraine's National Strategy for Creating an Accessible Environment. The strategy was championed by First Lady Olena Zelenska. Accessibility assessments were carried out with support from the EGAP Program, implemented by the Eastern Europe Foundation with backing from Switzerland. The opening of the new Diia Center in Samar marks a significant step toward making public services more inclusive for all citizens.

These efforts are part of a wider government program aimed at improving the quality of life for people with disabilities. By establishing a barrier-free Diia Center in Samar, Ukraine underscores its commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can equally access state services. Such projects can serve as a model for other cities looking to enhance the accessibility of their administrative facilities.
