UAF acknowledged VAR's mistake in the Dynamo – Shakhtar match: what was wrong with the penalty
The UAF Referee Committee acknowledged the decision of the VAR video assistants was a mistake in a controversial episode regarding a possible penalty during the match between 'Dynamo' and 'Shakhtar'. In the 60th minute, Shola Ogunjimi was stopped by Yukhym Konoplia, but the referees did not react to this episode. After the game, the Committee released recordings from VAR, where they acknowledged that the actions of 'Shakhtar's' defender constituted a foul. Romanov, the head referee, did not have enough information to make the correct decision. Therefore, the body called on video assistants in similar situations to recommend reviewing the episode to the head referee. As a result, 'Shakhtar' defeated 'Dynamo' 3:1 in the central match of the 11th round of the UPL 2025/26.
