Foreign Minister Meets with UNICEF Representative

According to МЗС: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met with Munir Mamedzade, the outgoing head of the UNICEF office in Ukraine. During the meeting, Sybiha presented Mamedzade with the state Order of Merit, Third Class, in accordance with Ukrainian Presidential Decree No. 617/2025 dated August 23, 2025.

UNICEF's Substantial Aid to Ukraine

Since the full-scale war began in February 2022, UNICEF has mobilized approximately $2 billion in assistance for the Ukrainian people. The organization's work has been crucial in a nation where millions have been displaced. As Andrii Sybiha noted:

"Behind these figures are the lives of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian children, their ability to learn and develop, to stay with their families in warm homes, and to have a childhood despite all the horrors of war."

The Minister thanked Munir Mamedzade for his personal commitment, humanity, and deep concern for the fate of Ukrainian children.

This meeting underscores the vital importance of international support for Ukraine during the ongoing war and highlights UNICEF's role in providing humanitarian aid to children affected by the conflict. The awarding of this state honor to Mamedzade signifies official recognition of his significant contribution to supporting Ukrainian children and families, a critical effort during this immensely challenging period for the country.
