Ukraine passed a key screening for EU membership
From June 24 to 27, a screening of Ukrainian legislation on two negotiation chapters - 'Transport' and 'Trans-European Transport Networks' (TEN-T) took place in Brussels, as reported by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.
The screening is the first stage of the negotiation process for Ukraine's accession to the European Union. Its purpose is to assess the conformity of Ukrainian legislation with EU standards and identify areas that need further work. The European Commission should summarize the results of the screening in a report to be presented in 6 weeks.
Main topics of the screening
- Road transport.
- Rail transport.
- Air transport and TEN-T.
- Maritime and inland waterways transport.
The ministry noted: 'In the transport sector, Ukraine needs to implement almost 400 regulatory acts from over 3000 analyzed. This concerns compliance with key European directives.'
Ukrainian legislation is being screened for compliance with EU standards in the transport sector. Completing this process will help Ukraine move closer to harmonizing its norms with European ones, which is a significant step towards ensuring the country's integration into the European Union.
