Ukraine launches free screening for 5 million citizens: how to get it
According to hvylya.net: In 2026, a free health screening program will be launched in Ukraine, which about 5 million citizens will be able to take advantage of. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Health Maria Karchevich during a webinar of the Ministry of Health dedicated to the launch of the initiative.
'It will be free. It is expected that at least 5 million people will be able to participate in such a program next year. In total, there are about 19 million people in Ukraine aged 40 and over,' Karchevich noted.
According to Interfax, the cost of one screening will be about 2 thousand hryvnias, and this money will be paid by the state to medical institutions for the services provided. The patient will be able to choose the hospital where they will undergo the examination.
The National Health Service of Ukraine will monitor the program and ensure that all information about the examinations conducted is entered into the electronic health system.
Other important details of the program
As previously explained by the Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko, the program includes the creation of a special card that will receive funds for health check-ups. A person will independently determine the time and place of the examination. The Ministry of Health also plans to involve private clinics in the program.
In the draft state budget for 2026, the government allocated 10 billion hryvnias for the implementation of this initiative. The screening will include checking the cardiovascular system, detecting diabetes, and assessing mental health.
Starting from 2026, a free health screening program will be introduced in Ukraine, covering about 5 million citizens. Patients will be able to choose the facilities for examination themselves, and the state will cover the costs of the services. This initiative includes important aspects, such as program monitoring, inclusion of private clinics, and funding of 10 billion hryvnias from the budget.
