Ukrainian Yaroslav Lavrenyuk – in the top five best young athletes in Europe

According to glavcom.ua: Ukrainian skeleton athlete Yaroslav Lavrenyuk made it to the finals for the Winter Piotr Nurowski Award as the best young athlete in Europe. This news was published by 'Suspilne Sport'.

The award recognizes the best athletes aged 14 to 18 years who are deemed promising and demonstrate high sporting achievements, reflecting Olympic values both in competition and beyond.

In the past season, Lavrenyuk became the first Ukrainian world champion U20 and received a 'bronze' at the junior European championship. Additionally, in the World Cup stage, he set his personal record, finishing 22nd in Yanqing.

Apart from Lavrenyuk in the final nominees, there are two more snowboarders, one representative from speed skating and freestyle. This year, the winner will be determined through voting by the National Olympic Committees of European countries.

Ukraine stood out at the European Youth Olympic Festival, finishing 10th with 5 gold, 8 silver, and 10 bronze medals.

Ukrainian athletes also performed successfully at the World Summer University, where they won 12 medals, including 4 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze.

Ukrainian skeleton athlete Yaroslav Lavrenyuk has a chance to become the best young athlete in Europe according to the Piotr Nurowski Award. It is worth noting that Ukraine successfully represents its interests on the international arena in both winter and summer editions of the games.
